The Christmas Kettle Campaign Coordinator is responsible for creating and implementing the organization and monitoring of Christmas Kettle Campaign activities. They will also ensure adequate staffing is met prior to and during each shift.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accountabilities:
- Promote, coordinate and oversee kettle locations in Fort Erie.
- In conjunction with CFS Manager arrange for the delivery and pick-up of kettles to/from sites daily, ensuring the security of donations.
- Coordinate the schedule for kettle volunteers and respond to emergency absences, etc.
- Make rounds at kettle locations to ensure kettle is staffed as per policy.
- Filling in as necessary at kettles to cover breaks or late arrivals, etc.
- Ensure that kettle locations have adequate supplies, etc.
- Assist in counting kettle income as needed.
- Responsible for the recruitment, orientation and performance management of kettle volunteers.
- Foster and maintain positive working relationships with volunteers and businesses hosting kettle locations.
- Maintain accurate records of volunteer’s information.
- Contact churches, schools, businesses and other organizations to fill volunteer spots on kettles.
- Post campaign prepare an overall report on the campaign to be submitted to the Manager of CFS and retrieve and store all equipment/supplies from various kettle locations.
- Record statistical data and prepare weekly time sheets as required.
- Perform other position related duties as required.
FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:
- Responsible for coordination of kettles; delivery and pick-up to/from sites daily, ensuring the security of donations.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- This is a temporary full-time position from October 18, 2021 to January 7, 2022 based on 30-40 hours per week.
- Kettle Campaign normal hours of operation 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
- Shifts will include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break.
- Flexibility in scheduling is required, as the hours will gradually increase as per the Christmas Kettle Campaign operational requirements.
- Supervisor will set the hours of work and work schedule
- Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification.
- Travel is associated with this position.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Completed High School or equivalent.
- Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License, personal vehicle required and insurance, current copy of driver’s abstract for review and verification that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Prior related experience would be a definite asset.
- Experience in office administration.
- Experience with general office equipment and must have strong skills and experience using word processing (WORD); spread sheet use (EXCEL).

- Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.
- Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
