Description
The Kettle Pick-Up Assistant is responsible for assisting volunteer drivers with the safety of the Christmas Kettle drop-offs.
HOURS:
- Monday to Saturday 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
- November 18, 2021, to December 24, 2021
- Temporary, Part-Time position
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Makes scheduled rounds of inspections, checks safety/security, monitors premises
- maintains an atmosphere of calm, providing an unobtrusive presence
- Meets visitors/volunteers and directs and accompanies them as necessary
- May handle kettles containing donations in accordance with policy (a secondary person always present)
- Assures the safety of the driver volunteers as they drop off kettles, escorting them into the building.
- Assists the night kettle staff with locking up the building and assures the building is secured and alarmed.
- Assures the night kettle staff leaves safely in their vehicle.
- Performs other duties as assigned
NOTE: Not all incumbents perform all of the duties described above but perform a similar range of duties.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- The successful applicant will have completed Public School plus specialized courses.
Experience:
- The successful candidate must have up to twelve months prior experience.
*NOTE: For some jobs, you may be required to provide validated educational documentation. An alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable.
Preferred Skills/Capabilities:
- Some security experience will be an asset
Precautionary Measures:
The incumbent must take the following precautionary measures (in addition to health and safety rules):
- Universal Precautions
- Hepatitis B Shot
- Wear safety shoes
- Wear gloves & PPE following all COVID safety protocols
Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:
- Background check consent
- A clear vulnerable sector screening
- Clean drivers abstract
- Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training
