        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

 
PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:

The Music and Youth Director provides a discipleship and outreach ministry to youth from the church and our local community.  To work with the ministry leadership team to develop a music program for our Church including Sunday Services.

HOURS: 40 hours per week

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Will be responsible to start new youth outreach program (new church plant), which leads to ongoing church youth programs
  • Contributes to the spiritual and pastoral development of the youth in the church by coaching, discipling, encouraging, and modeling appropriate attitude and behaviours.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates programs/ministries that are relevant to the youth of our church. As well as our community at large. Plans and conducts creative workshops, and services, evangelical outreach, pastoral care programs, and Bible studies.
  • Assists in the planning of assimilation strategies and events as required to promote incorporation into the church fellowship.
  • Prays with and leads youth and family members to faith in Jesus Christ as opportunities permit.
  • Develops and implements appropriate leadership program for youth and those involved in youth leadership. Recruits, completes orientation and training of youth leaders.
  • Works as a key team member with administrative, and pastoral care givers in corporate problem solving for the benefit of the church and individuals.
  • Knows and acts in accordance with security procedures for the church to ensure the safety and confidentiality of participants and information.
  • Interacts with community partners and resources to provide services to youth; may include participation on community committees.
  • Maintains written records/logs and activities (including activity reports, and statistical information.)
  • Organize fundraising events.
  • Develop Musical program for entire ministry to include such things as Praise and worship team, music, instrumental, and vocal.
  • Be responsible to sit on the church board.
  • Other Duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • will have completed up to 2 years of college. (an alternate level of education and experience may be acceptable)

SPECIAL LICENSES, DIPLOMAS, CERTIFICATES OR REQUIREMENTS:

  • Post-Secondary courses including Biblical Studies, Theology an asset

Experience:

  • 1-3 years successful related experience, including experience working with children and youth, music

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • First Aid
  • Food Safe
  • Non-Crisis Intervention
  • Related Courses an asset
  • Prior successful experience will be considered

PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:

Good Organizational skills.  Multitasker

PHYSICAL EFFORT

  • The job requires frequent set up and clean up activities. Preparation in sports, keyboarding and occasional transportation.
  • May lift more than 20 pounds

CONCENTRATIO REQUIRED:

  • The performance of the job requires attention when teaching, preaching, pastoring, coaching, studying, planning, and developing.
  • Will have to work with and direct volunteers

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The environment is typically a church, gymnasiums, camps homes schools and restaurants.
  • The incumbent works in generally pleasant surroundings, however may occasionally have to deal with angry or upset youth/parents. Irregular hours.

EXPOSURE TO HAZARDS:

  • Physical attack from other Youth/Parents
  • Exposure to infectious diseases
  • Moving objects
  • Sports related injuries

PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES:

  • Immunization for Hep B
  • Vaccination against Tuberculosis
  • Up to date vaccinations
  • Criminal Police Investigation Check (CPIC)
