                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned



Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations


One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

You are expected to fulfill your RCA obligations and responsibilities with integrity, and perform every duty in a conscientious, diligent and efficient manner.


  • 14 hours/weekly
  • Saturday & Sunday: 8:00am – 3:30PM



  • Prepares breakfast for up to 10 residents (8:00am-9:00am–family members are not offered breakfast)
  • Fills water jugs daily for residents (kept in resident room fridges)
  • Assists with feeding or offers total feeding support at mealtimes (9:00am and 12:00pm)
  • Wipes down the bedside table before and after meals
  • Empties and replaces bedside table garbage bags as needed
  • Answers call bells and assists others as they answer call bells, letting nurses know when unable to answer call bells
  • Assists nurses with physical, psychological, and emotional care of residents and their family members
  • Delivers AM care, supporting a range of activities such as bed baths, dressing, mouth care, repositioning, ambulation, activation, recreation, and socialization
  • Reports pertinent information to nurses (skin integrity, BM, voiding, temps, pain, complaints, etc.)
  • Communicates in a sensitive, caring and compassionate manner with all residents and family members and adapts mode of communication to facilitate effective interaction in all encounters
  • Offers and gives showers or tub baths to residents (check bath schedule), making changes where necessary to the bath schedule to accommodate specific needs
  • Changes bed linens on bath days and as needed
  • Ensures admission ADL sheet updated and in resident’s cupboard
  • Ensures that supplies in residents cupboards and drawers are stocked daily (incontinent pads, cups, straws, spoons, lotion , Cavilon cream, etc.) List is on the inside of residents’ cupboards.
  • Ensures each shift that supplies in storeroom are well stocked (a responsibility shared with the nurses) and report what we are low on so it can be ordered
  • Reports verbally to nurses on urine output and/or empties Foley bags at the end of the shift, relating volume, colour, consistency
  • Signs flow sheets daily, ensuring accountability for procedures and conveying that tasks have been done
  • Demonstrates respect for end of life issues while maximizing resident capacity for optimal independence in all activities.


  • Successful completion of a Home Support Worker or Residential Care Aide course
  • Food Safe


  • Experience working in a Hospice environment
