        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

 
PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

Position Purpose Summary:

The Trustee Caseworker will provide casework within the budget management program in accordance with contract obligations, policies and procedures, The Salvation Army’s mission, values, and standards.

This is a permanent full time position at 37.5 hours per week. Shifts will be 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for managing an assigned caseload
  • Complete client intakes / discharges and establish and maintain productive communication with clients and maintain case files to include all required supporting documentation related to each client.
  • In cooperation with the Trust client prepare a monthly budget plan to assist them with setting financial goals, development milestones, ensure their income assistance benefits are disbursed in a way that best meets their basic needs. Work with client to help them achieve their maximum possible level of independence.
  • Conduct Individual sessions with clients, keeping records as to the nature of each session including discussion with Social Workers.
  • Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and current file records including income and expenses as well as funds issued, in an organized fashion.
  • Prepare necessary forms for clients – OAP, CPP Benefits, etc.
  • Participate in the cheque distribution and preparation for bills, expenses, personal allotments
  • Prepare Cheques, Food Vouchers, and EFT Payments as required
  • Maintain the client management database with all required information
  • Prepare and facilitate relevant Budget management seminars or group education opportunities for clients
  • Assist clients when needed with finding accommodations, food, mediate with creditors or other assistance as it relates to the strong financial health of the clients
  • Assist with administrative duties, including but not limited to; answering phones, greeting clients, payables and receivables and data management
  • Participate in department staff meetings and strategic planning to ensure programming and goals reflect clients’ needs as these may evolve or change
  • Monitor and maintain client expenditures ensuring strong internal control practices
  • Maintenance and controls for all current / past client records
  • Track statistical information as required
  • Upholds the mission and values of The Salvation Army in all aspect of required tasks
  • Other Duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

*NOTE: You may be required to provide validated educational documentation.

Education/Certifications:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Post Secondary Education in a relevant field would be an asset

Experience:

  • 1-2 Years in a professional environment

PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Related Working experience is an asset
  • Knowledge of typing, filing and computers
  • Knowledge and experience working with clients with complex needs and behaviors
  • Current First Aid/CPR
  • Valid Criminal Record and Vulnerable Services Check
  • Driver’s License and Clean Driver’s Abstract

PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities:

  • Familiar with Microsoft Suite
  • High attention to Detail
