The Department of Fine Arts at Mount Allison University invites applications to teach FINH 3081

(Women and Gender in Art) for the fall term (September to December 2021), as a stipendiary (part-

time) position. This course offers a history of women in art and society, from examples from the

Medieval period through to contemporary culture. Drawing on social history, feminism and its

implications, and the representation of women and gender in the visual arts, this course provides a

better understanding of the situation of artists within different social, regional, and global contexts.

This course involves three hours of online class time per week. The anticipated enrollment is up to 55

students. This course is scheduled online Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:30 to 2:50 p.m. (Atlantic

Time). Trained Art History Teaching Assistants will be available to assist with marking.

Candidates should have a completed Ph.D., or be near completion, and a strong commitment to, and

experience with, teaching at the undergraduate level. Applications should include a letter of

application, a curriculum vitae, relevant supporting material including a teaching portfolio, and the

names and contact information of two references, submitted as a single PDF. Review of complete

applications will begin on May 3, 2021, and will continue until the position is filled. Applications
