        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

 
PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

Description

Under the direction of the Director of Spiritual Care, the Chaplain will assist residents in their lifelong religious practices as their functional needs require. Provide spiritual counsel, encouragement and support to residents, family members and staff. Follows policy and procedures of Grace Manor to ensure that the importance of holistic care to the residents is carried out.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Spiritual Care

  • Work with other chaplain(s) and Director of Spiritual Care to ensure a “team” effort and attends team meetings as scheduled.
  • Provides spiritual support to residents, family members and staff in times of grief, illness etc.
  • May facilitate contact with resident’s faith group as needed
  • Regularly visits all residents and charts using Point Click Care as required.
  • Conducts Various Spiritual Programming as scheduled by the Director of Spiritual Care
  • Prepares for care conferences on assigned days and attends when required
  • Updates and enters statistics for visitation, deaths etc. in appropriate files
  • Facilitates Resident engagement in Spiritual programming.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Spiritual Care

Organizational responsibilities

  •  Adhere to standards that are consistent with the Values and Philosophy of The Salvation Army
  • Participate fully and constructively in staff meetings and in service training
  • Engage in formal evaluation sessions with supervisor at regular intervals during the first year of employment and annually thereafter
  • Represent the Organization in a professional manner

Health and Safety

  •  Monitors adherence to safety policies and procedures of staff members, promoting safe work practices for self and others
  • Is alert to, remedies or promptly reports all actual or potential hazardous situations to appropriate personnel.

Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Training and experience in Pastoral care for Long Term Care (preferably one unit of CPE as minimum)
  • Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Training and or experience in Multi-Faith programming
  • Experience in Long Term Care/Healthcare is ideal

SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES:

  • Ability to work cooperatively in relationship with the interdisciplinary team
  • Supports the Salvation Army mission
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter, demonstrating consistent sound judgement in the face of ambiguity
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written, with a professional demeanor and an ability to positively represent organizational brand
  • Committed to providing high quality care to the elderly
  • Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening
  • Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities

HOURS: 24 hours per week. 3 days a week 8am-5pm, plus 3 hours every other Sunday afternoon
